Services / Pool digs
Pool digs
Digging to the dimensions in the plans, with a levelled bottom and working room for formwork. The soil is hauled away or piled on the property.
Machine
mini excavator or backhoe loader
Typical depth
150–250 cm
Typical time
one to three days
How it's done
First we work out the volume, because the number of dump truck loads depends on it — that's usually half the job. We dig about half a meter beyond the outside dimensions to leave room for formwork and waterproofing. The bottom is checked with a level against the elevation in the plans.
When we say no
If the yard has no way out for a dump truck, the soil goes out by wheelbarrow and the price multiplies. We tell you that at the site visit, not after you've paid for plans.
What to know afterward
An open excavation collects water. If more than a week passes between digging and formwork, plan to cover it.
