Services / Land levelling

Land levelling and grading

Levelling a yard or lot, shaping slopes for runoff and preparing the ground before construction or landscaping.

Machine

backhoe loader with grading bucket

Typical depth

no digging

Typical time

one to two days

How it's done

First we decide where the water goes — ground levelled perfectly flat holds water against the building. The slope is usually one to two percent away from the house. High spots are cut down, low ones filled and compacted so they don't settle.

When we say no

We don't spread topsoil over an unprepared base just to make it look flat. The first rain shows everything.

What to know afterward

Freshly filled ground settles for months. If paving goes on top, wait a season or have it specially compacted.
